Hi All,
Dog Mom here. Today is Blog the Change Day (my first one ever), and I thought I would spotlight two dog-related organizations and one non-dog related movement (humans are animals, too).
Dog related: Fences for Fido!
Check them out: http://www.fencesforfido.org/
Fences for Fido is a non-profit organization in Oregon and Washington that helps get dogs off chains! Talk about life changing! If you watch some of the videos, don't be surprised if you need to grab a tissue!
Dog related: START Rescue
Check them out at http://startrescue.org/
START is a non-profit organization that transports dogs from high-kill shelters in California to cooperating shelters in the NW, where these amazing dogs will have a chance for a better life. Additionally, START helps fund community spay/neuter programs. (Prepared to see something heartbreaking? Watch the story about Indy.)
Non-dog related: Half the Sky
Check it out at: http://www.halftheskymovement.org/
Their logo: "Turning Oppression into Opportunity for Women Worldwide." Need I say more? The documentary can be streamed online from Amazon, Netflix, and probably some others, or you can read the book. Be prepared to be inspired by some incredibly strong, determined women who've suffered more than I can even imagine.
Thanks for stopping by!
Welcome to Blog the Change! It is our 2nd one- isn't it great?! I have learned so much hopping around already and I love that you have made me aware of 2 awesome local, NW organizations. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteGreat organizations! Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteSo glad you joined this hop, and those sound like great organizations doing great things.
ReplyDeleteI especially like the Fences for Fido, as it's a bit different than a lot of the other organizations I'm aware of.
